Marketing to Moms: Blogs Are a Mom's Best Friend

August 21, 2009 § 1 Comment

It’s true.  Blogs are the highest form of media used by moms in social media.  Based on Lotame’s most recent consumer poll done in 2008, 75% of online Moms communicate primarily through blogs and forums.  Conversely, only 2% of Moms use apps and widgets in social media.

And while Moms are online, they are active downloading, watching videos or viewing content.  However, they are less likely to be creators, uploaders, sharers, or raters of content.

And what are their chief interests online?  Well, it’s a variety of topics but 85% are interested in television related content, followed by business, politics, living, fashion and beauty.

This study is just one more indicator of the important tie between television and online behavior.  It’s clear that marketers must have relevant and deeper content available for Moms when they go online.
